Let's reflect over this: why other constituencies/districts in Ghana are developing steadily at the expense of others? could it possibly be that, the voices of the constituents and their leaders are heard by power holders(President, DCE, MP, Chiefs)etc. Lets follow similar path, if this is their secret.
Upon hearing my able DCE of Kumawu constituency hosting a program on Salt FM at Agogo (a town we share boarders with) as our dear Nation is celebrating a day to mark the great achievements Dr. Kwame Nkrumah rendered to this country, I became very excited on one angle, whereas I was also sad to some extent, and the reasons are below!!
- For avoidance of doubts, Agogo can boast of two vibrant radio stations namely Salt FM (By one Mr Frimpong) at the main station and Adanse3 FM at Agogo-new town, close to the legendary musician, Amakye Dede's Pub, by the former MP (Hon Kwadwo Baah Agyemang), my happiness stems from the fact that, our DCE who is not a media person manned the program very well as a host and I was very excited on how he gave a brief history about Nkrumah and his contributions towards this modern Ghana and the need for us the youth and current generation to follow similar path to help build a prosperous Ghana, Kudos to you my dear Honorable!!!
- My sadness was from the the fact that, I had a sober reflection on the remarkable improvements going on in the various towns we share boarders with, namely Agogo (Nursing school, teachers training and a university) Agona (Teacher training), Effiduase (Economic vibrancy), etc, and compared them with my dear constituency (Kumawu), sadness overshadowed me, not for my personal gains, but for the future of our town and the next generation if we sit aloof about this canke. Kumawu cannot even boast of none of these developments, yet we have big men and women who are indigenes of this community, both home and abroad, but kumawu has nothing to write home about. Have we ever asked ourselves, the number of workers these institutions have employed, the economic boast it has brought among others?
- I think the time is due for us to end blame games, put down political lenses and colors and think of how we can equally make Kumawu a remarkable community. Lets unite and fight a common goal and I have a firm believe that, if it is not accomplished now, it could be in the near future for the next generation to benefit from our sweats!!! On this note, we are mobilizing ourselves and send petition to all our leaders to add their dignified voices to this fight and let's compel power seekers (All parties) to give us convincing promise on this agenda!!!
To this end, I want to wish each and everyone a happy holiday and remind ourselves of whom we are celebrating today, what he did for our country and what we can equally do for our country and our dear town specifically!!!
#Kumawu need tertiary institution now
#Kumawu deserve better like other neighboring towns
#ShalomNana Sarpong, (PRO, Kumawu Must Rise !!!)
